DRESS CODE:
Correct dance attire must always be always worn in class, following the TEDS dress code detailed below. If your dance attire from last season’s recital still fits you, there is no need to repurchase; it’s fine to wear it in our new season.
Dancers must also wear appropriate cover-ups when coming to and from the studio. It is not appropriate to appear outside the studio and on church grounds in leotard/tights alone.
A neat and tidy appearance sets an attitude of attentiveness and respect for students, teacher, and the art of dance. Uniformity in dancewear promotes a sense of inclusiveness and enables teachers to provide accurate feedback and guidance.
We appreciate your support in upholding these dress code policies, as they contribute to a focused and disciplined learning environment. Should you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the school office. We are here to assist you and ensure a positive dance experience for your child.
WHERE DO I PURCHASE MY DANCEWEAR?
All dancewear and supplies are available at Capezio, 330 Washington St. Wellesley. Tell them you dance at Total Eclipse Dance Studio (“TEDS”) and their wonderful staff will ensure that you have everything you need.

TEDS GEAR (logo sweatpants, sweatshirts, etc.) is available for purchase directly through our TEDS website. Sample sizes are available at the studio: at https://www.totaleclipsedance.com/merchandise
HAIR STYLES:
Hairstyles are part of your dress code. Hair must be properly secured and tied up off the face and neck for all styles of dance. We require ballet buns for all ballet classes. Hip-hop students may wear their hair in a securely wrapped ponytail, also pulled cleanly away from the face. For our 9:00 Saturday Baby Ballerinas, dancers are encouraged to have their hair pulled back from their faces, but a bun is not required.
TEDS SWEATSHIRTS FOR HIP-HOP ONLY
Students may wear TEDS sweatshirts for Hip-Hop classes only. For all other subjects you may wear wrap sweaters available at Capezio. Wrap sweaters should match the color of their leotard.
ADDITIONAL DRESS CODE ADVICE
-
Dance Bag: Students should carry their dancewear, shoes, and personal belongings in a dedicated dance bag. To avoid confusion, please ensure that your child's name is clearly printed on the bag and all its contents.
-
Clean and Well-Maintained Dancewear: Dancewear should be kept in good repair and laundered on a regular basis. This includes leotards, tights, sweatpants, or fitted t-shirts. Caregivers are encouraged to involve their young dancers in this process.
-
Appropriate Use of Dance Shoes: Dance shoes are meant for the dance floor only and should never be worn outside. This helps maintain their condition and ensures a safe and optimal dancing experience for all students.
-
Personal Hygiene: Students are politely asked to observe good personal hygiene habits. As part of maintaining a respectful environment, students aged 10 and older are advised to wear deodorant to class.
DANCE ATTIRE DETAILS:
What are Conversion Tights, and do I need them?
Conversion tights are regular full footed tights with a hole in the sole that allows the dancer to roll the tights up over their ankles and go barefoot. These are recommended for dancers who will be changing from covered dance shoes to bare feet, half-soles, etc. (e.g. modern, lyrical, acro). If your dancer uses covered shoes only, regular tights are fine. If your dancer is enrolled in Acro only, tights are not necessary at all. S/he may take class in bare legs/feet.
